The Institution of California Riverside, founded in 1954, is an open research university affiliated with the APLU. With 127 students and 65 staff members, classes began in 1954. By 1958, the university had grown to over 1,000 students, and enrolments were at an all-time high. Furthermore, the university&#39;s Medical School, which opened in 2006, was California&#39;s first medical school. Some of the world&#39;s most important research collections on citrus diversity and entomology, as well as science fiction and photography, are housed at the University of California, Riverside.
