Colby–Sawyer College is a private baccalaureate college in New London, New Hampshire. It was founded as a coeducational academy in 1837 and sits on a 200-acre (0.81 km) campus.
A legislative charter was granted by the State of New Hampshire in 1837 to 11 New London citizens for the purpose of establishing a school in the town. The eleven men who were named as the academy's incorporators were Joseph Colby, Anthony Colby, Perley Burpee, Jonathan Greeley, John Brown, Jonathan Herrick, David Everett, Samuel Carr, Walter Flanders, Jonathan Addison and Marshall Trayne.
It was a coeducational secondary school, for which Susan Colby served as the first teacher and principal. It opened with a student body of 26 girls and one boy, but soon enrolled 54 male students.

On-Campus Accommodation

Living on campus is integral to the Colby-Sawyer College learning experience. All full-time undergraduate students are required to live on campus. Exceptions may be made for commuter students residing with their immediate family within 30 miles of campus.

	<li>Rooke Hall - Residents live in apartment-style units of four or five students. Each apartment has a living room, dining area, bathroom and kitchen. Our upper-class students enjoy life in Rooke.</li>
	<li>Abbey Hall - A relaxed and welcoming residence hall for women. The comfortable lounge offers space for a study break or favourite TV show.</li>
	<li>Austin Hall- Austin always has something going on in the evenings, whether planned by the Resident Assistants or students.</li>
	<li>Best Hall&nbsp;- A friendly lounge welcomes you to this large, social&nbsp;residence hall for first-year students.</li>
</ul>

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) takes pride in creating programming responsive to the needs and interests of the Colby-Sawyer student population. CAB strives to provide students with opportunities to engage in cultural, educational, social, and recreational activities that foster the development of leadership and teamwork skills.

Colby-Sawyer College has again been recognized as one of the top colleges in the region by&nbsp;U.S. News &amp; World Report, earning top 10 rankings in three categories in its 2021 Best Colleges issue.

The college&rsquo;s best ranking &mdash; a fifth-place standing in the report&rsquo;s Best Value Schools &ndash; North list &mdash; came in a category that recognizes the overall value of institutions. According to&nbsp;U.S. News, schools are ranked based on several criteria, including a quality-to-price ratio, distribution of need-based aid and overall undergraduate costs covered through scholarships or grant awards.

Colby-Sawyer ranks eighth in the report&rsquo;s Best Regional Colleges &ndash; North list for a second straight year, placing ahead of 53 similarly sized institutions from Pennsylvania to Maine. The category ranks both public and private institutions focused on undergraduate education that grant fewer than 50% of their degrees in liberal arts disciplines. Of the seven schools to place ahead of Colby-Sawyer in the category, five are publicly funded.

The university&#39;s campus is in the stunning Lake Sunapee Region of New Hampshire, which offers panoramic views of mountains, forests, and lakes. Only a 90-minute drive from Boston, it&#39;s a fantastic location for outdoor activity.

2021 Job Placement Rates

Of our 176 graduating students in the Class of 2021, the data in this report based on 75 completed graduate surveys and additional data collected from professional social media site (primarily LinkedIn) on 63 additional graduates, therefore, providing data on a total of 138 graduates.

	<li>74% of alumni employed are working in an industry directly or somewhat directly related to their major</li>
	<li>54% of alumni were offered a job from their experiential learning site (internship, clinical or field experience site), this does not assume they accepted those offers</li>

In New London, the summers are comfortable, the winters are freezing and snowy, and it is partly cloudy year round. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from&nbsp;10&deg;F&nbsp;to&nbsp;78&deg;F&nbsp;and is rarely below&nbsp;-7&deg;F&nbsp;or above&nbsp;86&deg;F.
