Curtin University was founded in 1966 later in 1967 it opened with almost 3,000 students. It was Australia&rsquo;s first university of technology. The major infrastructure for the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT) was completed in 1966 at Bentley.&nbsp; In 1986, the Parliament of Western Australia granted it the status of a university.
