History
The Connecticut General Assembly started a school in 1889 for training school teachers. The name of the school was Willimantic State Normal School. The first male student entered the school in 1893. In 1895, the larger campus was built and the first dormitory was built in 1921 and it was renamed Willimantic State Teachers College in 1937.
