History

In 1926, the Embry-Riddle Company opened the Embry Riddle School of Aviation. The school was closed in 1930 following a merge with Aviation Corporation. In 1939, the school was re-opened in Miami, Florida. They joined hands with the University of Miami to provide training under the Civilian Pilot Training Program to increase the number of pilots. To expand, the school moved to the former Fritz Hotel. In April 1965, the university shifted to Dayton Beach and opened other campuses later. It was awarded university status in 1968 and became a non-profit institute in 1965.

This campus has one of the most extensive training programs called Reserve Officers&#39; Training Corps (ROTC) in the United States. The campus also has a fleet of 62 Cessna Skyhawks and 10 Diamond DA42-VI&#39;s. 52 majors are offered in this campus.
