Gannon University dates back to 1925, when it was founded as Cathedral College under the Village Maria College Charter. Archbishop John Mark Gannon took charge in 1941 and renamed it Gannon College. It became a full-fledged co-educational graduate school in 1964. By 1979, it had earned university status.

Residence halls and apartments are available for students at Gannon University. The following are some of Gannon University&#39;s halls and apartments:

	<li>Finegan Hall: With approximately 250 students, Finegan Hall is a classic style residence hall designed exclusively for first-year students, with fully equipped double bedrooms and a micro-fridge.</li>
	<li>North Hall is a large building with approximately 290 students that is reserved for first-year students. It&#39;s a single-gender suite-style resident hall featuring single and double bedrooms for 2-5 people. This hall has some of the same amenities as Finegan hall, but it also has a fully equipped kitchen, fireplace, study tables, fitness facilities, and laundry rooms.</li>
	<li>Freeman and Walker Flats: This three-story structure with single-gender apartments houses 98 and 29 students, respectively. Each apartment has two double bedrooms, a living area, a kitchen, and a bathroom.</li>
</ul>

The university provides safe and secure housing for its students. The university has three sororities and one fraternity house, providing excellent lodging possibilities. They ensure that the pupils have a healthy social circle and that they are able to fit in with other classmates. This will be beneficial to them in the future.
