Glasgow Caledonian University (informally GCU, Caledonian or Caley) is a public university in Glasgow, Scotland. It was formed in 1993 by the merger of The Queen&#39;s College, Glasgow (founded in 1875) and Glasgow Polytechnic (founded in 1971).

In June 2017, the university&#39;s New York partner institution, which was founded in 2013, was granted permission to award degrees in the state, the first higher education institution founded by a foreign university to achieve this status.&nbsp;The history of Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) began with the establishment of the Glasgow School of Cookery in 1875 and the West End School of Cookery in 1878. These two schools were merged and made the Glasgow and West of Scotland College of Domestic Science (GWSCDS) In 1908. In 1975, this college was renamed&nbsp;Queen&#39;s College. Further, in 1993, the Queen&#39;s College was merged with the Glasgow Polytechnic which was named&nbsp;Glasgow Caledonian University. GCU has 3 campuses located in Glasgow, London and New York. Now, with over 100 undergraduate courses in various fields of study, GCU has an enrollment of students from more than 100 nations. This university has housed 20,000 students. Also, GCU has a feather in its cap of being ranked in the world&rsquo;s top 150 universities in the Times Higher Education&rsquo;s 200 under 50 league.
