Goldsmiths' earlier name was Goldsmiths' Technical and Recreative Institute which was established in 1891. It became a part of the University of London in 1904 under the name Goldsmiths' College. 
Subsequently, in 1990, it got its Royal charter and later in 2006 it dropped the word college from its marketing name.

On-campus facilities: The on-campus accommodation at Goldsmith is mainly the student halls of Goldsmith as well as some University of London halls. The facilities you can expect are: 1. Shared or private Kitchen with basic appliances like cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, etc. Social areas and garden 2. Basic furniture like bed, chair, study table, wardrobe, etc. 3. Goldsmiths is one of nine leading research institutions that are part of CHASE, the Consortium for the Humanities and the Arts Southeast England.

This award is given in memory of Chin-Yueh Hsu who was a student on the MA Dance Movement Psychotherapy programme at Goldsmiths. Chin-Yueh died just after completing her final draft submissions after a long illness and graduated posthumously in 2015. This award is to honour her contribution to the MA Dance Movement Psychotherapy community, in which her commitment, determination and sensitivity to others were greatly valued.
