LU Leipzig is partnered with Navitas and through this partnership, hopes to facilitate programs which allow the interchange of students between Germany and the UK. The first intake of undergraduate students at Leipzig was in September of 2020. 2. Students are offered an International Foundation Year at Leipzig before beginning their studies. 3. Lancaster University is ranked top ten in all the major league tables. 4. International students can have post-study work opportunities and even a chance to be permanent residents. 5. Initially, the university is offering four Bachelor of Science programs to their students.

About

On-campus facilities: LU Leipzig does not offer on-campus accommodation. In lieu of offering residency , the university ensures that their students are provided with great options to choose accommodation from. Students may not be provided with on-campus residency but they are provided all the assistance and guidance they would need. Off-campus facilities: The university website recommends BaseCamp Leipzig which is advertised as a safe and supportive environment for all its residents. Students can choose form three available options that are: 1. Studio Base, without kitchenette 2. Studio Base, with kitchenette 3. Studio (Large), without kitchenette The rent would be per month and would include the cost of utility bills as well. Each contract with BaseCamp is of 6 months which when expires can be renewed for another 6 months. Food facilities (Availability of vegetarian/Indian food): Studying abroad doesn’t mean that you would have to forget the taste of Indian food. Many restaurants located in the campus vicinity make sure that you are covered whenever you are seeking the comfort of home-like food. Less than 10 minutes away are restaurants like Mumbai Lounge and India Gate and some other great options that would satisfy your craving for Indian food.

Available scholarships and application procedure for Scholarships The University offers scholarship programs for both EU and non-EU residents. Some of the scholarships are as follows: 1. Merit scholarships: Upto €3,000 reduction in first year tuition fee and €1000 reduction every subsequent year. 2. Campus Director's Scholarship: Available to students applying for International Foundation Year, this scholarship means a €1000 one-time fee reduction. 3. Country Specific: For all students applying from India, South Korea or Brazil during the intake of January or September 2021, the university is offering a €1000 reduction in fees every year. Students would be considered automatically for merit and country specific scholarships but would need to submit an essay for the Campus Director’s Scholarship. Every student is entitled to one scholarship only.

Financial Aid

Facilities: Students are allowed to partake in the art and culture of the city through trips and events that are organised by the student support team. The city has theatre houses and opera for interested students. For students who seek sports facilities, the city has 242 gyms and sports halls. While these are not facilities offered by the university, the students can ask for more information from the student support team.

Important landmarks/places nearby: If you are studying abroad, one of the first things you would do is explore the place you would be living in. When you are exploring Leipzig, we recommend you start close to the campus. Wasserspiel is one of the closest places you can go to have a nice time. Villersbrunnen and Letzte Gaslampe Leipzigs are other places worth visiting. Insel Teich Leipzig is worth-visiting if you want to be struck by the city’s scenic beauty. Crime rate: At Leipzig, Germany, the overall crime rate falls at 45.14, which is classified as moderate. If we go by specific criminal offenses, the crime rates vary from very low to moderate, depending upon the type and level of criminal offense. The city is considered to be one of the safest in Germany however you can research more on the specific details before making a final decision. Nearby Airports: The Leipzig/Halle Airport is the nearest airport, being only 21 minutes away from the campus location. However, it is only for domestic and European flights. The nearest international airport is one and a half hours away in Dresden so you would have to plan well in advance and make sure you are not late if you are catching a flight from the Dresden International Airport. Nearby Subways and train stations: The nearest train station is the Leipzig Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz, located 10 minutes away from the campus. The nearest transit stop is the Leipzig Main Station and is just a 4 minute drive away. For daily commute, you can opt to take a tram as the nearest tram stops, Hauptbahnhof and Westseite, are just 4 minutes away.
