Long Island University is a private university in Brooklyn. It was established in the year 1926. 1n 1929, the university affiliated itself with the Brooklyn College of Pharmacy. In late 1960s it was proposed to sell Brooklyn Campus to finance other graduate campus, but it did not get any place in reality owing to the protests conducted by students and teachers.

It offers 275 programs from the undergraduate to doctoral levels through its 12 schools and colleges. The university is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The LIU Post campus is home to the first professional School of Accountancy, an AACSB accredited Business School, award winning theatre programs and the College of Veterinary Medicine. The Brooklyn campus of the university offers programs in the healthcare field through the College of Pharmacy and Health Science and School of Nursing.

The LIU Brooklyn has 8 residence halls where over 1,600 students live. Each hall is co-ed, with males and females divided by floor or wing. Every residence hall offers lounges for relaxation or study, as well as snack areas with vending machines and convection ovens, and fully equipped laundry rooms.&nbsp;

	<li>Richard L.Conolly Hall is a 16 storey building that offers suite and apartment spaces for undergraduate and graduate students. The rooms include twin size beds, desk, desk chair, dresser, wardrobe, AC, and a personal digital safe. The lobby of the residence hall also has a Shark Bite Caf&eacute;.</li>
	<li>Fulton street residence hall is reserved for graduate students only&nbsp;and features fully furnished four, five- and six-bedroom apartment units having all appliances. The building also has study suites, spacious gaming and recreation areas. Wi-Fi internet access is also available throughout the community.</li>
	<li>Other residence halls in LIU Post Campus include Suffolk hall, Nassau hall, Kings hall, Queens hall, Post hall, Riggs hall and Brookville hall.</li>
