Maynooth University traces its roots back to 1795 with the formation of Royal College of St. Patrick. It formally came into existence in 1997 due to the autonomy status making it the 2nd youngest Irish university.
It was formed by the restructuring of National University of Ireland and the college at Maynooth by The Universities Act of 1997. Facts: 1. The university secured a 501-550 rank bracket by QS World University Rankings in 2012. 2. It has a student strength of above 13000. 3. The University is a member of The Irish Universities Association, Universities Ireland, European Association for International Education and many other reputable organizations. 4. The university got 49th rank by Times Higher Education (THE) in their Young Universities list. 5. There were 1700 international students in 2016-17 from 95 countries.

On-campus facilities: For on campus accommodation, the university offers 4 different halls on campus namely the Courtyard Apartment Complex, Rye Hall, River, and Village. These offers similar facilities some of which are: 1. A kitchen with most kitchen appliances like microwave, fridge, kettle, oven etc. 2. Bedroom options of single bed or bunk bed. Off-campus facilities: You can find various off-campus accommodations at the maynooth area. There are hosting families to private rooms available for you. You can choose according to your budget. And can expect basic facilities like furniture, laundry and meal services in most accommodations. Food facilities (Availability of vegetarian/Indian food): There are moderate amounts of vegan outlets in the city. But we recommend going to supermarkets and making your own meal because eating outside can be expensive. And if you want to eat vegan meals you can look at these places: 1. Accommodation

Maynooth University has got good ranks and has been well recognised. It is the second youngest university and offers lots of courses with focus on research. The campus Facilities is also very nice, you get the feel of both historic and modern architecture with its two connected campuses. Considering all these, the university is a good choice for students who want to study in Ireland.

MU Sports Scholarships are designed to support sporting excellence - we want out students to pursue and excel in their sport and academic study at Maynooth University.
We are committed to the development of sporting excellence. In 2022 we awarded over 160 first year sport scholarships. 

The application for a Sports Scholarship at Maynooth University closed on April 1st.

Scholarships are awarded to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Scholarship funding assists students with sports and university-related expenses (e.g. sporting equipment, travel costs associated with sport) and aims to free up time from part-time work commitments.

MU Taught Masters Scholarship

The Department of Economics offers four partial scholarships to those beginning the full-time MSc Economics Programme (PAC Code: MHH52) in September 2023. Two-year Maynooth MSc Economics students (PAC Code: MHH70) who have excelled in the first year of their programme are also eligible to apply. 

Scholarships are merit-based. Two scholarships will be reserved for non-EU students. If no non-EU student receives the award, the resources will be directed to Irish students and to students from other EU countries.

A 2:1 overall result in their level eight honours undergraduate degree (or equivalent)

Edgeworth Graduate Student Scholarship - MSc Economics

We are offering a suite of 9 scholarships (3 per faculty) at 2,500 Euro reduction for the first year of a taught postgraduate programme only. The scholarship does not cover tuition fees for repeat years. To apply: A separate application is not required. You must have been offered and accepted a place on one of our taught postgraduate programmes and paid your deposit by 31 March 2023 . Open to full and conditional offer holders.

September 2023 Taught Postgraduate Scholarships

One scholarship is available per faculty. The scholarship comprises a 2,000 Euro per year reduction in the undergraduate non-EU tuition fee. (Payment of fees after year one is contingent on successful progression to the next year of the programme. The scholarship does not cover tuition fees for repeat years). To apply: A separate application is not required. You must have been offered and accepted a place on one of our undergraduate programmes and paid your deposit by 31 March 2023. Open to full and conditional offer holders. 


September 2023 Undergraduate Scholarships

School of Business is offering six postgraduate level scholarships for September 2023 intake. They comprise a 2,000 Euro per year reduction in the non-EU tuition fee. The scholarship does not cover tuition fees for repeat years. To apply: A separate application is not required. You must have been offered and accepted a place on one of our taught postgraduate programmes and paid your deposit by 31 March 2023. Open to full and conditional offer holders.
