The Straits Settlements and the Federated Malay States Government Medical School, which became the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1905, was formed to fulfill the region&#39;s rising demand for qualified medical personnel. After its merger with the University of Malaya in 1949, it was named the University of Malaya. The National University of Singapore (NUS) and the University of Malaya were created after the separation of the University of Malaya in 1980. (UM). The University of Malaya&#39;s arts, sciences, engineering, and business administration faculties were transferred to NUS, while the University of Malaya kept its colleges of medicine, dentistry, and law. Since its inception, NUS has expanded to provide a broad range of academic disciplines, including the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, business, law, and medicine.

On-campus facilities

The University has four living facilities, i.e, residence halls, college residences, student residences, and houses. They are differentiated based on their meal plan, academic programs, hostel activities, and room type. The institute has a total of 6 residence halls, 4 college residences, 2 student residences, and several houses.

You can choose from a number of clubs that suits your interest. The institute has more than 200 student organisations. University has divided the clubs into various categories like art, health, etc.

Since its establishment, NUS has expanded to provide a broad range of academic disciplines, including the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, business, law, and medicine. It is continuously recognised as one of the best universities in Asia and the entire world and is renowned for its robust research initiatives and collaborations with renowned academic institutions around. Students are required to apply their scholarship forms in order to be selected for the process scholarship. The University provides various scholarships based on nationality or the qualification of the student. Some of the scholarships are:

The main campus of NUS is located in Kent Ridge, while the medical campus is located in Outram. NUS is home to 21 RICs, or research institutes and centres, at the university level. The Singaporean government has recognised four of these RICs as Research Centers of Excellence: the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials, the Centre for Quantum Technologies, the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore, and the Mechanobiology Institute. The Central Library, Chinese Library, CJ Koh Law Library, Hon Sui Sen Memorial Library, Medical Library, Music Library, and Science Libraries are the 8 libraries that make up the NUS Libraries.

A section of Singapore called Queenstown is located in the western part of Singapore. It is well-known for its public housing estates, which have been well-preserved and are now recognized as important architectural and cultural landmarks. They were built in the 1950s and 1960s. Both locals and tourists enjoy the dynamic and diverse neighborhood of Queenstown. It is a wonderful location to learn about Singapore&#39;s history and culture while also taking use of the city&#39;s many modern facilities.
