Oglethorpe University is a private liberal arts college in Brookhaven, Georgia. Originally chartered in 1835, it was named in honor of General James Edward Oglethorpe, founder of the Colony of Georgia.
Oglethorpe University was chartered in 1835 in Midway, just south of Milledgeville, then the state capital. The school was built and, at that time, governed by the Presbyterian Church, making it one of the South's earliest denominational institutions. The American Civil War led to the school's closing in 1862.

About

The university offers a generous amount of financial aid to international students in the form of awards and merit-based scholarships to study in the USA. All the candidates are awarded up to 21,000 USD based on their merit. International students who submit all the documents within November 1 may be eligible to attend Oglethorpe’s annual Scholarship Weekend in January, during which Oglethorpe awards up to ten full-tuition scholarships. Scholarships from The Lanier, University, Oxford, and Presidential awards are also offered to the students which range from 16,000 to 21,000 per year. This scholarship is given on the basis of merit. International Baccalaureate students with an IB diploma are eligible for a scholarship of 1,500 USD per year renewable award Students can apply for need-based financial aids also. The university also provides an F1 visa sponsorship.

About 63% of the students who graduate are employed full time in their respective fields. Some opt for higher education also. It also has 300+ internship partners so the students get many opportunities after graduation.The students get jobs in sectors such as – accounts, sales, health care, education, etc. The median starting salary of Oglethorpe alumni is around 47,000 USD.
