London South Bank University was called Borough Polytechnic Institute when it was founded in 1892. It was also used as a community center during World War II to serve meals. In 1992, it achieved university status under the Further and Higher Education Act 1992.&nbsp;

It has been renamed many times throughout its journey, like Polytechnic of the South Bank, South Bank Polytechnic, and South Bank University. The current name London South Bank University, was adopted in 2003.
