Scholarships and prizes are non-repayable forms of financial assistance. Penn State has various options for scholarship assistance.
The Office of Student Aid considers all students given admission and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to Penn State for scholarships. Regardless of whether a student expects to receive financial assistance, Penn State advises that all students complete the FAFSA to be considered for all types of help.
Penn State's Office of Student Aid is only one of the units that grant scholarships and prizes. Additionally, academic institutions, campuses, and other administrative divisions may give scholarships and awards, some of which will require additional applications.
Penn State offers rewards to incoming first-year and transfer students in addition to the scholarships and awards listed on the Office of Student Aid website. The majority of the scholarship money goes to students through the Provost's Awards and the Discover Penn State Awards.
