The Prussian government established RWTH Aachen University in 1870 as the Royal Rhenish-Westphalian Polytechnic School to provide technical skills for the region&#39;s growing industrialization. The institution had its original Aachen location and provided a four-year study in engineering and technology topics. After several name changes, it changed its name to the Technical University of Aachen in 1906 and started providing a greater selection of scientific, engineering, and technology-related disciplines. The institution experienced a period of great growth and expansion after World War II, and in 1966 it was given the new name Rhenish-Westphalian Technical University of Aachen finally in 2009, the university adopted its current name, &quot;RWTH Aachen University.&quot;
