<p>The Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, commonly known as the Rock or SRU, is a publicly funded University located in the borough of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, USA. The university was established in the year 1889 as a teacher training school, named the Slippery Rock State Normal School. The first president of the university was James E. Morrow.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Later in the year 1926, the school was purchased by the Commonwealth and thus became a 4-year college. With growth over the year, the school became the Slippery Rock State College in 1960 offering undergraduate as well as graduate degrees in Liberal Arts.&nbsp;</p>
