Stony Brook University (SBU), officially the State University of New York at Stony Brook, is a public research university in Stony Brook, Long Island, in the metropolitan area of New York City. Along with the University at Buffalo, it is one of the State University of New York system&#39;s two flagship institutions.

Consisting of 213 buildings over 1,454 acres (5.9&nbsp;km) of land in Suffolk County, it is the largest public university (by area) in the state of New York.

Undergraduate Housing

There are two types of lodging available for undergraduates: Suite-style and Corridor style.

<ul>
	<li>You can choose the corridor style if you like a typical dorm room. A double or single bedroom, a shared bathroom, and a living room are offered as amenities.</li>
	<li>Students who want some privacy have the choice of the Suite Style. There are two or three rooms that may accommodate four to six people, together with a communal restroom and a common area.</li>

Graduate Housing

For students who have graduated, are married, or are domestic couples with children, the university provides apartment-style living alternatives on campus.

Off-Campus Accommodation

The off-campus accommodation range from private studio rooms to shared residence halls. You can choose anyone based on your needs and budget. To experience the local culture you can also go for a homestay.

On the campuses of Stony Brook University, there are two restaurants, a convenience store, and ten shops. The students can also receive free nutritional counselling from them.

You can find part-time jobs on the Handshake portal. It has various jobs listings and you can filter according to your needs. You can also get leads through your network, classifieds or by approaching nearby businesses and asking for opportunities.

The university&#39;s faculty is one of the best among its peers. The faculty includes four Nobel Prizes, one Abel Prize, three Pulitzer Prizes, one Indianapolis Prize, and two Fields Medals.
