History:

The University of Liverpool was started as a college called the university college of Liverpool in 1881. It became an independent university with its current name the University of Liverpool in 1903 due to the royal charter and act of parliament. It also granted the university to issue its own degrees as compared to the earlier external degrees from the University of London.
