<p>Troy University is a public university in Troy, Alabama that was established in 1887.</p>

<p>Originally in 1887, it was founded within the Alabama State University System as Troy State Normal School. Then in 1929, it was renamed Troy State Teachers College, and later in 1957, it was again changed to Troy State College.</p>

<p>Again in 1967, it was changed to Troy State University, and finally, in 2005, it got the flagship university of Troy University System and was renamed Troy University.</p>

<p>It is accredited by the Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS) and the Southern Association of Colleges.</p>
