The University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) is a public university located in Edmond, Oklahoma, United States. It was founded in 1890 as the Territorial Normal School, and it became the Oklahoma Territorial Normal School in 1891. Its purpose was to train teachers for the Oklahoma Territory.

In 1904, the school was renamed Central State Normal School, and in 1919 it became Central State Teachers College, offering four-year degrees in education. In 1939, it was renamed Central State College, and in 1971 it became the University of Central Oklahoma, offering a wide range of bachelor&#39;s and master&#39;s degrees in many fields of study.
