History

In 1861, the Colorado General Assembly decided that Boulder would be the location for the University of Colorado. It wasn&rsquo;t until 1875 that the construction started of the first building on campus. CU considers 1876 as the year of its founding, recording the time as five months before Colorado officially became a state.

As of 2015, the university offered 150 academic courses through its nine schools and colleges. CU is the flagship university under the University of Colorado system. The university is classified as R1 University which makes it one of the best research universities.

First and second year students can easily find on-campus accommodation as their housing is prioritised by the university. Residence hall communities and Bear Creek caters to the housing of all undergraduate students. There are apartment complexes for postgraduate students, faculty and visiting scholars.&nbsp;

To fly in or out of the US, you will have to opt for the Denver International Airport, located 45 minutes away from the campus location.

Unfortunately, there is no subway station or bus stop located close by the campus. If you are looking for a way to commute daily to and from the campus, we recommend you take a cab ride or carpool with some friends. You can also walk or take a bicycle to your destination.
