The University of Derby was established in 1851 as a Teacher Training College. Over the years, nearly two dozen educational institutions combined to form the university as it is today, The university gained university status only in 1992. Student Clubs

The student clubs and societies at the University of Derby are numerous and can be joined by any interested students. The sports clubs include swimming, boxing. Archery, and cricket.The student societies include the film society, the law society, the careers society and the arts society.

Sports and Athletics
