The University of Dundee, located in the city Dundee with its main campus being located in Dundee's West End is a public research university in Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom. It is known to be a red brick university that was recognised as a university college in the year 1881, with a donation from the prominent Baxter family of textile manufacturers. The institution was, at that time, a constituent college of the University of St Andrews alongside United College and St Mary's College that was located in the town of St Andrews. 
Finally on 1st August 1967, the University of Dundee came into formal existence and gained its university status by virtue of a Royal Charter. On-campus Accommodation

All the students need to prepare their accommodations before the classes start and therefore, it is necessary to find the place beforehand so that you can rest assured. It is necessary to apply and book the accommodation place quickly as the accommodation options fill up quickly. Hence, the university provides On-Campus Accommodations so that the students can comfortably stay in a secured place within the Campus. The University has a number of student residences located around the city. During the last decade, the university decided to move some of these halls of residence closer to the main campus. Now, all the universities are in the campus with fully catered facilities. 
At present time, there exist the following university residences:

5. West Park 
There are other older halls that are now out of use. 
 
Off-campus Accommodation

If you are a person who prefers to stay independently and with all the freedom, then the various off-campus facilities might be useful to you. Off-campus facilities are best for students in their senior years when they have adjusted to the new cities&#39; lifestyle. A few of the common off-campus accommodation facilities are

	<li>&nbsp;Homestay- Homestays are a cultural exchange between an individual or a family who are local residents, called a &ldquo;Homestay Host&rdquo;, and the visiting International Student who comes to life as a guest in their home while they are studying there. The Host also provides the Student with all their basic needs, including their own room, food (if applicable) and space to study. In return, the Student pays a weekly fee.</li>
	<li>Hostels- Hostels provide a friendly, supervised and safe environment for students. Many hostels also provide meals.</li>
	<li>Shared Accommodation- Shared Accommodation allows students to have more freedom as this allows them to share a room, house or apartment and divide the rent among themselves depending on their budget.</li>
	<li>&nbsp;Apartments or Homestays- This is a good option for students who want to live a more independent and private life. Studio rooms which are like one-bedroom apartments are recently very popular among the students who choose this option because they are less expensive to rent compared to the larger apartments or houses.</li>

Food facilities (Availability of vegetarian/Indian food)

Food has always been a major issue for all International students, especially for the Indian students; therefore, it would be nice to know that the town of Dundee has a variety of dishes from diverse cultures including various Indian dishes.
