<p>The University of Houston, shortened as UH, is a public-funded research-oriented university located in the city of Houston, Texas, USA. It was established in the year 1927 as the Houston Junior College (HJC), and in the first academic year, the college enrolled 232 students and 12 faculties. The college gained its name in the surrounding states as well by providing quality education to its students.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Thus, the Governor of Texas, Miriam Ferguson passed a bill into law in the year 1933, and after that, the college became a four-year institution and became the University of Houston. On its 50th anniversary, the Legislature of Texas formed the University of Houston System, and Houston University became the oldest and largest university of this system.&nbsp;</p>
