The Christine and Ian Bolt Scholarships were set up in memory of Christine Bolt, Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Kent, and were generously funded by her late husband, Ian Bolt. Successful applicants will be awarded up to GBP10,000 each (to include tuition fees) to support a sustained period of research in America for up to one year. In exceptional circumstances, the scholarship holders may be invited to re-apply for a further one year's funding.

Scholarships are aimed at students whose area of research has an American element and/or where the centre of expertise or an important source of research material is located in the United States of America.

Christine and Ian Bolt Scholarship

Kent Business School is pleased to be able to offer two 'Leaders in Sustainability Scholarships' to students applying for the MBA, worth 25% of the MBA tuition fee.

Successful candidates must demonstrate both depth and breadth of previous work experience along with academic excellence in leading sustainable and social business causes and inspiring colleagues to develop and succeed in becoming sustainable business leaders of the future.

Awardees, in recognition of this prestigious scholarship would need to continue to champion the area of sustainability by undertaking the following activities whilst on the course:

1) Organise an event or project to promote the area of their scholarship in collaboration with the MBA Team.

2) Become a student ambassador supporting recruitment activities and initiatives for the MBA course.

MBA Leaders in Sustainability Scholarship

Successful candidates will have run their own successful local business for a minimum of 5 years and are now looking to develop their business or organisation further whilst also providing a positive economic impact in their region.

Awardees, in recognition of this prestigious scholarship would need to continue to champion entrepreneurship by undertaking the following activities whilst on the course:

The Christopher John Marsh Memorial Fund was established in 1997 by Commander Colin Marsh and Mrs Yvonne Marsh to support graduating University of Kent students, of good standing, by clearing small debts that would otherwise preclude their graduating. Commander Marsh was a mature student at the University of Kent when he and Yvonne established this fund in memory of their late son, Christopher. Commander Marsh passed away in 2003. As the Higher Education funding environment changed over time, the fund was utilised less and when the Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) was established, Yvonne chose to move all her support to the School. Yvonne Marsh passed away in 2021. This scholarship is to support students over the age of 21 with KMMS tuition fees.

Paris Scholarships will be awarded to a limited number of outstanding applicants able to demonstrate a high level of academic achievement, clear intellectual ambition and the potential to make a strong contribution to their chosen MA programme.

Paris School of Arts and Culture Scholarship

This scholarship is available for current Foundation Students studying within the International Programmes department only

International Programmes has developed a range of scholarships to support our foundation students when progressing onto undergraduate study. These awards are part of Kent's efforts to support excellence in academia and to reward student's efforts in transitioning onto a degree via a foundation year. They are designed to help students to focus on their progression in the knowledge that excellent attendance and engagement throughout the Foundation Year/IFP will be rewarded alongside academic achievement.

These scholarships provide a GBP3,750 cash payment (via bank transfer), payable in three lump sums across the 2024-25 academic year. A total of 8 awards will be available under this scheme for entry in September 2024.

Foundation Programme Progression Scholarship

The School will award one sum GBP3,000 on a competitive basis to a successful applicant commencing Master's level study in September 2023.

To be eligible, candidates must demonstrate financial hardship and be undertaking a Master's at the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research, starting in September 2023 on either a full-time or part-time basis.

The University has a long tradition of welcoming international students from around the world and is pleased to be able to offer a number of scholarships for entry at taught master's level.

The scholarships are worth GBP3,000 towards the cost of tuition fees for one year and are offered to nationals of any country paying overseas fees, who are beginning a programme in January 2024.

International scholarships for undergraduate students

Kent Business School is pleased to offer a range of hardship bursaries to UK and International postgraduate taught applicants who require financial support in order to undertake and complete their master's studies.

KBS Bursaries are awarded on the grounds of financial hardship and in order for us to offer such a bursary there needs to be reference to this within the application essay. For example, some of our applicants are parents (especially single parents) or mature students with heavy financial commitments. Some applicants may be registered with a disability and further funding will contribute towards the costs of studying and/or living, whereas others may be from a low-income family and find they need to raise funds themselves. Some may find that even with working part-time (which can put a strain on studies) they simply cannot raise the funds needed.

Kent Business School Hardship Bursary

The Loyalty Discount is a fee discount of GBP3000 for EU and Overseas fee paying students, awarded for the first year of registration only.

If a student is part-time, the discount will be split equally over two years i.e. GBP1500 per year for EU and Overseas fee paying students.

Sasha Roberts joined the School of English in 1997 as a specialist in Shakespeare and the Renaissance. Promoted to a Senior Lectureship in 2006, and with an outstanding academic career unfolding, she was tragically killed in a road accident a few months later.

Sasha was a brilliant teacher, loved and admired by her students, a distinguished scholar, and a vibrant and innovative presence in the department. Her many publications included Women Reading Shakespeare - an anthology of criticism edited with Ann Thompson, a study of Romeo and Juliet in the Writers and their Work series, and a distinguished contribution to Shakespeare scholarship, Reading Shakespeare's Poems in Early Modern England.

The Sasha Roberts Scholarship was set up by Sasha's family, her parents Penny and Nigel, her husband Martin, and her son Lio who survived the crash that killed Sasha. A tree has been planted alongside a bench in the garden outside the School of English, both in memory of our sadly-missed colleague.

The University is offering scholarships for 2024 to support our final year undergraduate students choosing to progress to postgraduate study at Kent. These awards are part of Kent's efforts to support excellence in academia and facilitate a better tomorrow . They are designed to help you achieve your career goals and ambitions.

For September 2024 entrants, these scholarships provide GBP1,500 towards the cost of tuition fees for 40 UK students, and GBP3,000 towards the cost of tuition fees for 20 Overseas students.

This scholarship is available for current final year Kent undergraduate students only.

Kent Business School automatically considers applications for its Course Director scholarships which are available for students applying to study onto a MSc course offered within the School and who have an outstanding academic background.

Overseas students from any country which receives Official Development Assistance (ODA) from the OECD who undertake a full-time, taught LLM at the Canterbury Campus of the University of Kent. The list of countries is extensive, and amongst the countries included are Thailand, India, Nigeria, Kenya, Brazil, China, Turkey and many more.

This award provided a tuition fee discount of GBP2,500 to entrants who meet the eligibility conditions stated above.

Kent Business School (KBS) is pleased to announce our 10% Loyalty Award to University of Kent students who wish to undertake a postgraduate taught or postgraduate research course within KBS for September 2023 entry.

The University of Kent, in partnership with the Article 26 Project offers each year up to five Sanctuary Scholarships for undergraduate entry. These awards are aimed at helping those seeking asylum in the UK to progress to higher education. The benefits of the Sanctuary Scholarship award are:

Each recipient's tuition fees will be waived for the duration of their programme of study or until they are able to access Student Finance England funding at the University of Kent (undergraduate programmes only).
The recipients will be eligible to receive financial support from the University of Kent to cover the cost of travel (to the University or for group support), books, equipment, etc. This is a bursary payment of GBP2000 at the start of the academic year.
The Students will be allocated an Adviser from Student Services to support them during their studies and to help access any support services and this will be a chance to check in and get extra support when or if it is needed.

Article 26 Sanctuary Scholarships

The Kent Ambition to Succeed Scholarship extends our support to those students who participated in the University of Kent Succeed Programme.  The scholarship is worth between GBP500-GBP2,000 for each year of study and will be renewed on an annual basis, subject to satisfactory progress.  If you are required to repeat a year, the scholarship will be paused until you continue to the next stage of study. The Scholarship payment will not be paid whilst undertaking a year abroad/year in industry.

The amount awarded is dependant upon a number of determining factors including household income and the number of awards available on the year of entry to the University
