Chevening enables outstanding emerging leaders from all over the world to pursue one-year master's degrees in the UK.

There is no such thing as a 'typical' Chevening Scholar, but those who are successful tend to have ambition, leadership qualities, and a passion for influencing positive change in their home countries.

We encourage you to apply if you meet our eligibility criteria and other requirements. Your gender, age (there is no upper age limit), sexual orientation, religion, marriage or parenthood status, caste, class, or other attributes do not matter to us. What matters is your ability to submit a thoughtful application that demonstrates you are capable of excelling on an intense master's course in the UK, and that you have a clear vision for your future.

Chevening international scholarships

Award recipients receive:

Payment of Tuition Fees

Economy travel to and from your country of residence by an approved route for you only

An arrival allowance

The cost of an entry clearance (visa) application for you only

A departure allowance

A contribution of up to GBP75 for TB testing, where this is required

A travel top up allowance

A monthly personal living allowance (stipend) to cover accommodation and living expenses. The monthly stipend will depend on whether you are studying inside or outside London. These rates are subject to annual review.

The Salford International Excellence Award is judged by our international scholarship committee. Ten successful applicants will be awarded GBP5,000. You must have applied for an undergraduate course and received an offer for September 2024 intake in order to apply for this scholarship. This scholarship is not available for postgraduate students.


Salford International Excellence Award

For September 2023 intake 

The NCUK Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship is worth GBP5,000.
The NCUK Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship (progression from IY1) is worth GBP3,000.
The NCUK Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship (progression from PMP) is worth GBP3,000.
The NCUK Salford Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship is open to applicants who have an offer for an undergraduate programme and have achieved 128 UCAS points (A level grades ABB grades or equivalent) and a minimum EAP C in the NCUK International Foundation Year. 

The NCUK Salford Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship (progression from IY1) is open to applicants who have studied the NCUK International Year One and have an offer for an undergraduate programme. Applicants must achieve 65% from 120 credits, with an EAP C or equivalent in the NCUK International Year 1.

The NCUK Salford Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship (progression from PMP) is open to applicants who have an offer for a master's programme and have achieved 65% from 120 credits, with an EAP C or equivalent in the NCUK pre-master's programme.

NCUK Scholarships

For postgraduate applicants, the Global Gold Excellence Scholarship is worth GBP3,000.


Global Gold Excellence Scholarship - PG

For undergraduate applicants, the Global Gold Excellence Scholarship is worth GBP3,500.


Global Gold Excellence Scholarship - UG

There is no separate application process for this scholarship. You will be assessed when you apply for your chosen programme of study. If you are successfully offered this scholarship, you must accept your offer of admission and pay your tuition fee deposit by the deadline specified in order to receive the funding.
