The University of South Alabama (USA) is a public research university in Mobile, Alabama. It was created by the Alabama Legislature in May&nbsp;1963&nbsp;and replaced existing extension programs operated in Mobile by the University of Alabama. The&nbsp;USA is divided into ten colleges and schools and includes one of Alabama&#39;s two state-supported medical schools. In the fall semester of 2018, South Alabama had an enrollment of 15,093 students. By the spring of 2019, the university had awarded over 90,000 degrees. It is classified among &quot;R2: Doctoral Universities &ndash; High research activity&quot;.

USA has an annual payroll of more than $400 million (US), with over 6,000 employees, and is the second-largest employer in Mobile. The university claims to have an annual economic impact of US$3 billion.

The university offers a range of undergraduate and graduate&nbsp;degrees in ten colleges and schools. Several programs offer master&#39;s level degrees in addition to undergraduate degrees. Doctoral-level degrees are offered in several areas, including a Doctor of Pharmacy degree offered in collaboration with Auburn University.

The university offers a number of scholarships for international students who are recommended to apply for admissions before the priority deadline of April 1 in order to be eligible for these scholarship programs.

	<li>Global USA Scholars Award is awarded to international degree-seeking students with a minimum ACT score of 28 and a high school GPA of 3.5. The Scholarship is renewable for four years.</li>
	<li>Other scholarships for international students include Honors International Music Scholarship, Hinson International Student Endowed Scholarship, International Student Endowed Scholarship and others.</li>
	<li>Students who receive a scholarship will have the funds credited towards their tuition fee every year. Any additional amount pending can be used to pay academic costs such as meal plans, books and housing.</li>

Financial Aid

The USA campus size is 1,224 acres; the campus has over 90 facilities.

	<li>One of the most important structures on campus is the Meisler Hall which&nbsp;is home to the Admission Office, the Career Services, enrollment services, Financial Aid Office, International Services, Student Accounting and more.</li>
	<li>Also, it is worth mentioning the Student Recreation Center which is a 116,000 square foot area that was built in 2012 and houses various facilities including a three-story rock-climbing wall, basketball courts, an indoor soccer field, indoor and outdoor heated pools, racquetball courts, workout facilities and studios.</li>
	<li>One building that gets the attention of most people on campus is the Health Sciences Building which is home to the Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Professions and the College of Nursing and it houses the departments of Biomedical Sciences, Cardiorespiratory Care, Emergency Medical Services, Physician Assistant Studies and Physical Therapy.</li>

The University of South Alabama is located at 307 N. University Blvd in Mobile, Alabama, close to the Old Shell Road and the Zeigler Boulevard. It&#39;s setting suburban, however, there are a lot of great stores and restaurants nearby like Family Dollar, Walmart, Winn Dixie, TGI Fridays, Quiznos, Olive Garden, Chick-fil-A and others to ensure that the students have a lot to do off-campus as well.
