Established in 1890, the University of Tasmania is the fourth university in Australia. The university was first named Christ College in 1864 and got its university status in 1890. The motto of the university says ‘The field is open to talent’. The university was established after the abolition of overseas scholarships freed up funds. It is located 250 km from the coast of Melbourne. Additionally, it is a sandstone university.
