<p><b>University of the Pacific</b> (<b>Pacific</b> or <b>UOP</b>) is a private Methodist-affiliated university with campuses in Sacramento, San Francisco, and Stockton, California. It is the oldest chartered university in California, the first independent coeducational campus in California, and both the first conservatory of music and first medical school on the West Coast.
</p><p>UOP was first chartered on July 10, 1851, in Santa Clara, California, under the name <b>California Wesleyan College</b>. The school moved to San Jose in 1871 and then to Stockton 97 years ago in 1923. Pacific is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). In addition to its liberal arts college and graduate school, Pacific has schools of business, dentistry, education, engineering, international studies, law, music, pharmacy, and health sciences.

        <p>There are a wide variety of homestay options available, and our partners do their best to match students and hosts according to their interests and preferences. Homestay hosts include single people, young couples with children and pets, and older couples. All homestay accommodations have been inspected, and all adults in the home have completed a required criminal reference check.</p>

The University is blessed with remarkable and accomplished alumni. By virtue of being ofthe oldest campuses on the West Coast, it brags of the crème de la crème of intellectuals who preside over its classrooms and lecture halls. Class sizes are of different ranges. Some are seminar style, while others have a closer student-teacher ratio. Individual attention is also given to any student who is desirous of extra help. <p>At Pacific University, most students apply for financial assistance through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on or after Oct. 1. Federal Pell Grants- Awards up to USD 6,000 to eligible students. Eligibility is determined by the university and is subject to federal regulations.</p> <p>Oregon Opportunity Grants are offered to eligible undergraduate students who are Oregon residents and can get up to USD 3,200 through this grant. Pacific Grants are given to undergraduates enrolled in the College of Arts &amp; Sciences, the grant amount varies each year and is awarded to student’s demonstrated financial need.</p> <p>Apart from these <b>international students are offered scholarships to afford their studies in the USA</b>. Financial Aid

UOP is located centrally, right in northern California, just 80 odd miles from San Francisco and a short distance from Sonoma and Napa valleys, the Monterey Peninsula and the Sierra Mountains. The 168-acre central campus in Stockton touted as one of the most gorgeous in the country, offers a wide array of programs for undergraduates, graduates and professionals. Sports is put on the back burner in UOP compared to academics. Nevertheless, the men's Water Polo is ranked #2 in the country. Also, there is a pool, three gyms, and a rock climbing wall. Greek life is very big on the campus. Given its location in Stockton, the school has good safety measures in place to make the student body feel secure. There are emergency lights, an easily accessible taxi service (STRIPES) which runs until 3am and 24/7 police patrolling. UOP encourages students to experiment under the guidance of knowledgeable faculty scholars. The university has research labs equipped with state of the art facilities and instruments for students to carry out high-quality, innovative research work. Other facilities include a three-floor library with an extensive collection, computer labs throughout the premises with 24/7 reliable wireless internet. The Campus in Stockton houses the three main residential halls:  Quad Buildings  Southwest Hall  Grace Covell Hall The Quads made out of a few separate littler habitation corridors, are in close vicinity to one another. Elegance Covell being the biggest residential corridor,holds over 350 understudies while the Quads and Southwest hold a lesser number of understudies.  Upperclassmen can lodge at the University Townhouses that are on the upper east side of grounds, McCaffrey Apartments situated in the focal point of grounds or in the two condo structures known as Brookside and Monagan. The college also has a separate University Center which is focused on other interesting exercises. The Don and Karen DeRosa University Center offers another focal eating lobby, understudy bistro, bar, book shop and gathering focuses, supplanting the McCaffrey apartments.

The University is situated in Stockton, California. A prestigious private university, it is the oldest chartered coeducational university that California boasts of. The university also goes by the simple name of Pacific or the acronym UOP. The university also holds the status of being the first conservatory of music as well as West Coast’s foremost med school.  The Stockton campus is quite picturesque and features rose gardens, brick buildings, architectural columns, as well as a lot of greenery. It has been used as a backdrop for many a Hollywood film. It is also home to the Morris Chapel and there is ever a tower on site.  UOP also has its Sacramento Campus which houses graduate and professional programs. This is in Oak Park, south of downtown. The UOP also has its San Francisco Campus which is located the South of Market Pacific neighborhood.

From a student perspective, weather is not a topic of any needless (or even needful) worry. Californian summers are famous internationally. The summers are hot and the winters are pleasant. Thus, students have the option of living in a perfect setting all year round. Students coming from colder countries may experience a rise in winter temperature. But this is nothing that they will have difficulty adapting to.
