The University of Wollongong traces its origin to 1951. The New South Wales University of Technology established a division in Wollongong to train Engineers and Metallurgists for the local steel industry.&nbsp;

Then in 1975, The University of Wollongong was incorporated by the Parliament of New South Wales as an independent institution. In 1982, the University amalgamated with the Wollongong Institute of Higher Education, which had begun life in 1962 as the Wollongong Teachers&#39; College.

The university has four places namely&nbsp;KOOLOOBONG VILLAGE,&nbsp;BANGALAY,&nbsp;CAMPUS EAST, and GRADUATE HOUSE for providing accommodation. All are located on campus so there&#39;d be no traveling expenses. You&#39;d get most of the facilities needed for a comfortable stay like laundry, meal, wifi, with mostly accommodations being furnished.

You can also get off-campus accommodations nearby, they can range from private accommodations to shared ones depending on your budget and preferences. Homestays can also be a good option with similar facilities and being affordable.

Food facilities

There are so many restaurants in Australia that are Indian and provides Indian and vegan foods. Also, you can order them online. But, if you are going as a student then it is not a good option to get a meal from the hotel every day. It will be very expensive and not healthy also.&nbsp;

Part-time jobs

Student Visas for Australia have changed with effect on July 1, 2016. The earlier Subclasses 571 - 576 have now been grouped under Subclass 500. As per the new rules, students going to Australia under Visa Subclass 500 are eligible to work for up to 40 hours in a fortnight while the course is in session and for unlimited hours when the course is not in session (during breaks). The only provision is that the student cannot start working until the course commences.
