Established in 1992, Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki is the largest territory education institute at Taranaki. It became a subsidiary of New Zealand Institute of Skills & Technology in April, 2020. The motto of the institute says “Be the Best”. It is a public institute.
Te Kura Matatini o Taranaki is the other name for the institute. Facts: 1. It has two campuses and the main campus is at Taranaki. 2. It has a total 5000 students 3. It delivers relevant industry related trainings 4. It hosts open day where students can put up their queries.

On-campus facilities: At the bottom on WIIT campus, there are two accommodation residences situated. Option to live alone or twin sharing is available. Some of the available facilities are: 1. Bathroom - toilet, basin and shower ensuite 2. Double bed or twin beds 3. Fridge 4. Wardrobe 5. Computer desk Off-campus facilities: A lot of options are available at Taranaki to stay off-campus but we recommend you to stay on campus in the starting years of your study and save this option for later years of study. Food facilities (Availability of vegetarian/Indian food): The food facilities available are excellent. The granting of Scholarships, Bursaries or other assistance to students who presently reside in the Taranaki Province and who wish to become farmers, in order to obtain further education or training in the kind of knowledge or skills which should be useful for them in farming pursuits. Applicants must be under the age of 21 years as at the closing date of the annual grant round. Agriculture Scholarships will be awarded to successful applications balancing career-specific/ merit-based and financial need-based.

Doris Swadling Agriculture Scholarships

The advancement of musical education to students who presently reside in the Taranaki Province, by the granting of Scholarships or Bursaries or other assistance, to enable or assist them to obtain musical training or education or by fostering in any other ways knowledge and appreciation for good music. Applicants must be under the age of 21 years as at the closing date of the annual grant round. A preference will be given to students from less well-off backgrounds.
