History

The Connecticut General Assembly started a school in 1889 for training school teachers. The name of the school was Willimantic State Normal School. The first male student entered the school in 1893. In 1895, the larger campus was built and the first dormitory was built in 1921 and it was renamed Willimantic State Teachers College in 1937. The original building was destroyed due to a fire accident and was replaced by Shafer Hall in 1946. In 1967, it was renamed Eastern Connecticut State College. It was in 1973 when the university got its current name.&nbsp;

The university provides accommodation facilities for students and 87% of first-year students and 60% of all full-time graduates live on campus. The residential property is separated into first-year halls and upperclassman halls and students with sophomore status and higher can&nbsp;live in upperclassman halls.

Students can also find rental flats and apartments if they don&#39;t want to live on campus.&nbsp;

Application Procedure

The campus of Eastern Connecticut State University is spread in an area of 182-acres and is divided into three parts: South Campus, North Campus, and the University Sports Complex. The south part of the campus has historical buildings like Burr hall, the north part has a modern part that includes a library, fine arts instructional centre, student centre. The campus is designed beautifully and has eating areas and green areas as well.&nbsp;

Eastern Connecticut State University is one of the oldest universities in Connecticut. It provides high-quality education and provides an environment that fosters the multi-faceted growth of students. It has more than 80 student organisations in which students can participate that include athletic, artistic, cultural, political and communication clubs.&nbsp;&nbsp;The campus provides all kinds of facilities including sports, library, green areas and everything. Willimantic is a place located in the town of Windham in Windham Country, Connecticut, the US. It is also known as &quot;Thread City&quot; for the American Thread Company&#39;s mills and is located along the Willimantic River. It has an ethnically diverse population as people come from different parts of the world to find work. It has public schools, high schools, private schools and a four-year liberal arts college known as Eastern Connecticut State University. It also has one more university. The town has picturesque locations and offers quality nightlife. The major employer of the town is Willimantic Waste Paper Company.
