History of Royal Holloway University began in the nineteenth century when Bedford College and Royal Holloway College were established in 1849 and 1886 in London respectively. The founder of Bedford College was Elizabeth Jesser Reid and Royal Holloway College was Thomas Holloway. The building of Royal Holloway College was first introduced by Queen Victoria in 1886. Both the colleges came under the University of London in 1900. In 1985, Royal Holloway University of London was formed by merging these two colleges.

This was possible over 150 years of academic innovation, eminent alumni contribution and historic discoveries in two colleges. Another historic glory, Royal Holloway has in its bag is it was the first women college in the UK. Motto of Royal Holloway University of London is &lsquo;Esse quam videri&rsquo; which means &#39;to be rather than to seem&#39;.

Internships are usually structured 10 or 12 week summer work experience schemes offered by large organisations and companies. They are commonly found in sectors such as IT, finance, consulting and law. They are often aimed at penultimate year students and are very competitive, so it is vital that you apply early. Most are offered during the summer period but application deadlines start from as early as October of the year before and run through to February.
