The University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) came into existence as the Merchant Venturers' Navigation School in 1595. The school became the Merchant Venturers Technical College in 1894. It changed into Bristol Polytechnic in 1970 and was granted university status under the Further and Higher Education Act, 1992.
Today, the university has many scampus of which the Frenchay campus is the largest. UWE Bristol has a good employability rate and has been rewarded for its excellence in teaching. The university is also a prominent academic sponsor for Bristol Technology and Engineering Academy, a new technical college. Facts: 1. The Students' Union of the university has its base in the Frenchay campus and was established in 1971. 2. UWE Bristol’s world-leading research volume has gone up by 170% according to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014. 3. The university launched a rebranding campaign in the spring of 2016. 4. The university has four primary faculties that are then divided into departments. 5. UWE Bristol’s university motto is ‘Light Liberty Learning’.

About

On-campus facilities: If you are just joining UWE, you are guaranteed accommodation for your first year as long as you meet the application deadline. All accommodation on-campus is self-catered with ensuite options available in some locations. Price range varies from place to place so you would have to check that on the basis of your budget. All the students apart from the first years need to find off-campus accommodation. Off-campus facilities: Private accommodation is a must for undergraduate students in their second or final year or postgraduate students with families. The university’s Students’ Union Advice Centre offers information and advice on how to rent the perfect private accommodation for you. From the fine print details to the variation in budget, the website covers all the needed information. Food facilities (Availability of vegetarian/Indian food): On all four of the university campuses, there are multiple outlets offering a wide variety of food and snacks to students and faculty. Many Indian restaurants are situated in the campus vicinity. A 5-10 minute drive would bring you a step closer to the taste of your home. Available scholarships and application procedure for Scholarships 
There are several scholarships and bursaries available for international students based on their course and degree type. The Chevening scholarship is a good option to apply for externally. Some university offered scholarships are:

	<li>British Council IELTS Scholarship is offered to eight students from India applying for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.</li>
	<li>Chancellor&rsquo;s Scholarship waives 50% of the tuition fees of the applicant chosen. The applicant would have to take up an internship within the International Office or other departments, and would be an ambassador for the university.</li>
</ol>

Financial Aid

No. of campuses: 4 Facilities: The university has a state-of-the-art engineering building with high-tech equipment and learning spaces. Mock courtrooms with recording facilities allow for students to practice in a more practical setup. There are shared social and learning spaces in the Bristol business school. There is also a replica hospital ward with the same equipment used in real hospitals so that medical students can know how to do effective treatment in a safe environment. Campus safety: The campus is patrolled regularly and monitored 24/7 in a control room via CCTV. The control room also oversees management of electronic access control and alarm systems. A full-time police officer is also a part of the security team. In case of emergencies, students or staff can contact the security control room whose number is given on the university website.

Place description: Bristol is a city, county and unitary authority in South-West England with the 10th-largest population in the country. Bristol was the site from where early explorers set sail onto the quest to reach the New World. Bristol is connected to major cities by rail and road networks and the sea and air routes allow it to connect itself to the rest of the world. Today, the economy of the city is reliant upon creative media, electronics and aerospace industries and its docks stand as testimonies to the city's rich cultural heritage. Important landmarks/places nearby: A 20-minute drive seems prerequisite if you want to go to a tourist destination situated somewhat near the campus. Royate Hill Viaduct is only 12 minutes away so maybe you can begin your exploration of the city there. Other places worth visiting include the Camera Obscura, the Bristol Wheel (like the London eye), the Bristol aquarium and the Water Maze. Crime rate: When it comes to living in Bristol, the city is a safer option as compared to many other areas of the UK. Violent crime rate of the city is 68% lower than the national average and the overall crime rate for 2019/20 was 113.5 per 1,000 of the population, for the second time in two consecutive years. We recommend you do some research of your own before making any final decisions. Nearby Airports: The only airport you need to know about when in Bristol is the Bristol airport. Located 40 minutes away from campus, Bristol airport will be more than enough for your domestic and international travels. Nearby Subways and train stations: The nearest train stations are the Filton Abbey Wood and the Bristol Parkway stations, both a ten minute drive away. Rather than opting for train travel, we advise you to get familiar with the bus network. The nearest bus stops are Frenchay Campus (Stop E) and the Frenchay Campus (Stop A), both 3 minutes away from the campus.

Location

Internships: Undergraduate Internship Scheme is offered by the university on a first-come-first-serve basis. This scheme offers an eight-week, remote-working summer internship, giving the applicants a chance to earn £370 a week. Interested students can apply online by using the information available on the university website. The university will also assist in speculative internships and will help students in preparing their CVs and cover letters. Summers in Bristol are warm and enjoyable and somewhat cloudy. Winters are long, chilly and cloudy so be prepared with some warm clothes. Rain falls all year long so carrying an umbrella becomes a necessity rather than a choice.  The average temperature varies between 37°F to 70°F and summers are ideal for planning trips and outings.

These scholarships are available to undergraduate students studying Graphic Design.

Two scholarships are available for undergraduate students in their first year studying Graphic Design who have a household income of less than GBP25,000.

These scholarships are available to undergraduate Physiotherapy students.

Each year there are two scholarships available to level two undergraduate Physiotherapy students who are:

This scholarship is available for international postgraduate students.

Four Global Buddy Scholarships are available, which offer a 25% tuition fee discount for a maximum of three years.

In order to be eligible students must:

Be an international fee payer.
Achieve a minimum of 70% attainment.
Achieve a minimum of 90% attendance.

UWE Bristol's International College Scholarships - Global Buddy

We are delighted to offer UWE Bristol alumni a tuition fee discount of 25% on our full-time and part-time taught postgraduate courses.

Postgraduate research students (PhD, DPhil, MPhil, Prof Doc) are eligible for a 25% discount on the first year of study only if their course is full time, and for the first two years of study only if on a part-time course.

The discount does not apply to retake modules, integrated/continuing professional development courses or degree apprenticeships.

The 25% discount applies only to courses starting in the 2022/23 or 2023/24 academic years. For courses starting in 2024/25 academic year, the alumni discount will be reduced to 20%. Any discounts or offers for courses starting after 2024/25 are yet to be confirmed.

UWE Bristol alumni who have successfully completed a UWE Bristol degree programme (foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate) including students who have successfully completed a UWE Bristol degree programme which is delivered at one of our partner institutions in the UK or overseas are eligible.

Alumni students can only receive the Alumni Scholarship if you are progressing to a higher-level qualification than previously achieved at UWE Bristol. For example, if you completed a Postgraduate Diploma at UWE Bristol and wanted to study another Postgraduate Diploma then you would not be eligible for the Alumni Scholarship.

If you completed a Postgraduate Diploma at UWE Bristol and then wanted to study a Masters at UWE Bristol then you would be eligible for the Alumni Scholarship as you are studying for a higher level qualification.

The International Emergency Fund (EF) can provide discretionary financial assistance, including emergency situations, to all full time non-UK students registered at UWE Bristol. Students either need to be an international student who is paying the overseas rate of tuition fees or an EU student who is not eligible for living cost support from Student Finance.

Support is available for international students who have experienced substantial and unforeseen financial hardship since the start of the academic year.

International Emergency Fund

Students in even the most severe hardship are unlikely to receive more than GBP1,000. Awards are made to cover essential living costs or the cost of flights home.

We want you to envision a sustainable product that utilises reclaimed ocean plastic in its assembly. ideally we would like to see at least %80 of the structure comes from using reclaimed ocean plastic and Up to %20 using long term bio degradable plastics. The device is a next level hair dryer for generation x individuals who want to reduce their environmental footprint, yet still expect the best when it comes to ergonomic design, styling and performance.

To solve the brief, you must provide freehand ( digital paint is ok ) sketching of 3 concepts then we want to see a rational for which of the three you select and then in order to solve the brief you must take that concept into a CAD package and offer digital CAD renders of the product, which should communicate an understanding of the structure and production techniques. We are not interested in designs that can not be moulded or manufactured. Think about the limitations of these non engineering plastics & Remember your user at all times and all stages of the product use.

Submit all work in image format, ideally PDF under 20Mb or PPT.

Awards are based entirely on our judgement of the project submission.

The annual scholarship awards the winning candidate GBP1000.
